BARTENDER GENERAL SUMMARY
Bartender is friendly, outgoing, and possesses good communication skills. He or she will greet the guest, take orders, make suggestions, and prepare drinks. The Bartender should be organized, able to think and act quickly to ensure responsible service of alcohol such as check ID, and follow all safety practices. . Maintain a tidy and fully stocked station.
BARTENDER - ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide friendly, hospitable service to Silverspot guests.
- Welcome each guest personally within 30 seconds.
- Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone, and body language.
- Offer your assistance before the guest has to ask for it.
- Take guest orders and ensure all payments are collected.
- Provide menu to guest and answer any questions, make suggestions.
- Inquire if they are enrolled in Spot Rewards, or if they would like to join.
- Check identification of customers to verify age requirements to purchase alcohol.
- Make recommendations and suggestions.
- Offer specials, suggest pairings to complement the guests order.
- Ring food and drink orders into POS immediately, start a bar tab or collect money from guests, and make change.
- Place current bar tabs in front of guests at all times.
- Provide menu to guest and answer any questions, make suggestions.
- Prepare and serve drinks.
- Mix, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for guests of bar, lounge and theaters following Silverspot recipes.
- Provide responsible service of alcohol.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or Manager.
- Observe guest behavior and count number of drinks served.
- Supply a taxi if a guest reaches a state in which they should not drive. Ask management for intervention.
- Ensure cleanliness of the bar area and maintain adequate level of inventory.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Wipe down the bar counter during shift to keep it clean.
- Work with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked to Silverspot's standards at all times.
- Ensure closing duties are completed (mop floor, etc.) See manager for instructions.
- Communicate with management when inventory is low.
- Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display.
- Wash and sterilize glassware
BARTENDER - EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Must be of legal age to bartend (varies by state).
- Some bartending experience in a high-volume setting required.
- Attention to detail.
- Friendly and warm demeanor.
- Smiles and makes eye contact.
- Adequate self-awareness .
- Strong communications skills.
Alcohol Training compliance, bartender certification (if applicable), Alcohol Server permit where required by law.
BARTENDER - PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Walks and stands up to 6-8 hours during shift.
- Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry and wipe.
- Frequent washing of hands.
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must wear slip resistant shoes at all times.
