Description:
This is a 4-month contract with the possibility of going to perm with a company that has written an incredibly fast massively parallel SQL database system that will be the latest and greatest, state-of-the-art database tool for data warehousing, business intelligence and reporting. Key Objectives:
  1. Leverage broad technical knowledge to provide IT support of key business objectives including but not limited to organizational growth and customer engagement activities.
  2. Provide local and remote support at the technical level to all internal staff across three physical offices.
  3. Work to maximize employee effectiveness and efficiency in utilizing implemented technology through training sessions and documentation.
  4. Maintain positive relations through a friendly, approachable demeanor, and in providing exceptional customer service to all staff.
  5. Develop IT infrastructure and training to broaden the reach of IT while maximizing the number of internal customers that can be supported per IT engineer.

Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Handle support requests via IT trouble ticketing system.
  2. Support all IT resources including Email, VoIP, Workstations/Laptops, OS, Network Connectivity, VPN, and server clusters.
  3. Maintain documentation of IT-related assets.
  4. On-site and Off-site troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair.
  5. Design smart technical solutions to solve problems and meet objectives.
  6. Make recommendations for improvements to IT systems.
  7. Create documentation and knowledge base articles.
  8. Provide training to staff on utilizing IT products and services.
  9. Review internal design and specification documents to provide customer perspective.
  10. Continually increase knowledge of new IT technologies.
  11. Participate in the Agile process Scrum.

Requirements:
Required Technical Skills:
  1. In-depth knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration including installation and configuration, disk/RAID configuration, network configuration, and general troubleshooting.
  2. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange Server, and centralized workstation management tools.
  3. Experience implementing and/or supporting an integrated Windows/Linux server and workstation environment.
  4. Experience with commercial database products such as MySQL, Oracle, DB2, Sybase, Informix, Postgres etc.
  5. Fundamental understanding of network and system security concepts.
  6. UNIX scripting languages including shell, python, sed/awk, Perl.
  7. Familiar with network diagnostic tools, TCP/IP, and Cisco access-network switching products.
  8. Knowledge of clean structured cabling techniques.

Required Experience:
  1. Minimum 5 years of recent, professional experience in hands-on IT support and engineering role.
  2. Prior software start-up experience.
  3. Prior IT engineering experience.
  4. BS or equivalent experience in a technical field (Computer Science preferred).
