Job Requirements / Description

The Security Lead plays a critical role in protecting Wood’s people and keeping them safe, and embedding an enduring security culture at project, site, and office level. They are responsible for implementing comprehensive security strategies, policies and procedures to protect the company's employees and reputation.

Under the guidance of Security and Resilience Manager Western Hemisphere, the Security Lead advises BU colleagues on security risk management, execution of the company security strategy and compliance with the company security standard. They provide employees travelling under Wood’s duty of care with guidance on appropriate security risk mitigation measures; identify and manage security threats to projects at bid stage; and support ongoing operations in responding to evolving security threats. Their objective is to support business growth and delivery in varied risk environments.

The Security Lead is based in the Americas, prioritizing support to Medium, High, and Extreme risk locations. They provide security subject matter expertise and ongoing threat monitoring in relation to all assets, staff, and offices. In addition, the Security Lead will assist with coordinating and supporting Wood’s global operations, supporting the Security & Resilience Manager (West) and the Security & Resilience Manager (East) with administrative tasks and functions, in support of global security.


Security Culture

  • Supports the implementation of a comprehensive security framework, set out in the Group Security Standard, to protect Wood personnel, assets, and infrastructure.
  • Provides administrative support in developing the relevant security policies, systems, processes, procedures and training materials, accounting for BU strategy and prevailing threats.
  • Assists in monitoring the security and geopolitical environment. Supports in the production of weekly and monthly reporting on how key developments may impact Wood. Contributes to bi-annual security forecast.
  • Contributes to security awareness programs and training initiatives to educate employees about best practices and potential threats.
  • Builds relationships with BU HSSE and Country Management teams to embed the security culture and promote compliance.
  • Supports the Business Units with advice on physical, geopolitical and operational security, with a particular focus on North, Central and South America.

Operations

  • In Medium, High, and Extreme risk locations where Wood has ongoing operations, supports the Country Manager and local HSSE in identifying security threats and the appropriate mitigation strategies.

Under the direction of Security & Resilience Manager (West), conducts field visits to locations where current or future operations will be conducted to develop in-country knowledge and relationships with the Country Manager, local HSSE and local security providers.

Travel

  • Reviews business travel as required per the security standard, with oversight from the Security and Resilience Manager Western Hemisphere.
  • Under the direction of Security & Resilience Manager (West), conducts itinerary reviews, travel risk assessments and pre-trip security briefings for employee travel to Medium, High, and Extreme risk locations.
  • Promotes awareness of and compliance with travel security management procedures, including awareness of available travel assistance services, completion of mandatory trainings and utilization of available resources.
  • Under the direction of Security & Resilience Manager (West), supports the response to incidents, emergencies, and crisis management through the Travel Tracker tracking and communication tool. Provides monthly reporting on travel to medium, high and extreme risk locations, travel trends, and utilization of travel security management resources.

Bids

  • Reviews and approves tracked opportunities as required per the security standard.
  • Under the direction of Security & Resilience Manager (West), advises on security context, appropriate security control measures and likely security costs associated with opportunities, enabling Wood to win business while effectively managing risk and protecting margins.
  • Supports the Security and Resilience Manager Western Hemisphere to advise on opportunities in challenging security environments.
