Abode , one of the largest and effective nonprofits working to end homelessness in the Bay Area, is seeking a Training Specialist for our programs in Alameda County.
About The Role: The Training Specialist will support the organization-wide initiatives that will help transform agency culture through excellence in training. The Training Specialist will be responsible for working with the Training Team to deliver and evaluate training that will transform the agency’s vision, values, and practices. The Training Specialist will implement and continuously improve upon exceptional professional development opportunities for employees. This is a mostly remote position with required travel within Abode’s areas of operation for in-person training sessions and some team meetings.

How You Make an Impact:
Training Delivery
  • Prepare for and assist in virtual and in-person learning and training, including but not limited to technology troubleshooting.
  • Manage participant registration, attendance, and other logistical matters.
  • Gather feedback from trainers and trainees after each educational session.
  • Analyze training evaluation data; present findings and recommendations to the Training Team.
  • In collaboration with the training team, quality improvement team, and other key staff at Abode, document training needs and improvement ideas and contribute to training plans and schedules for the agency.
  • Work with internal subject matter experts (SMEs) to design training modules and resources, using proven adult learning theory and inclusive design principles.
  • Special training assignments to departments as needed.
Administrative Support
  • Act as key administrator for Abode’s eLearning platform, including maintaining and updating rosters, curriculum databases, assigned modules, and training records.
  • Maintain and provide support in maintaining in-house training equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain and provide training information to employees, prepare training materials, and manage a calendar of training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
How You Meet Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • 2 years of experience as a Training Coordinator, Training Facilitator, or similar role.
  • Some experience with various training methods, including face-to-face instruction and e-learning.
  • Use of personal vehicle and proof of valid California Driver's License and current auto insurance, along with a clean DMV record, is required.
