As the Director of Sales at The Westin Nashville, you will establish sales and catering goals, forecasting revenues, budgeting and management of the Sales and Catering teams. In the management function, you will assist in the training, development, coaching and counseling of both the Sales and Catering teams. While maintaining an individual sales booking goal, you will also assist Sales Managers in closing business, negotiating contract language and client entertainment. To ensure the team's overall success, you will assist with the attainment of budgeted goals and coordinate direct sales activities such as road shows, blitz's, group promotions, etc. to achieve them. You will also attend necessary industry and client-related functions in order to keep current on industry trends and to maintain close client contact and build relationships. You should be comfortable with standard programs as well as analyzing reports and trends, preparing monthly reports, and assisting The General Manager in the preparation of the annual marketing plan and budgets. To perform this job successfully, you will need 5 years or more of progressive Hotel sales experience with a demonstrated history of success in achieving sales goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Establish sales and catering goals, forecasting revenues, budgeting and management of sales office.
- Lead and partner with Human Resources in coaching, counseling and recruitment of all sales and catering managers and administrative staff.
- Train and develop sales managers in selling techniques and management philosophy.
- Assist team in the attainment of all budgeted goals.
- Attend industry and client related functions in order to keep current on industry trends and to maintain close client contact.
- Coordinate direct sales activities including road shows, blitz’s, group promotions, fams, etc.
- Handle accounts/ sales market(s) as assigned and achieve or exceed sales goals.
- Assist sales managers with booking groups, particularly in the area of joint calls, join site inspections, entertaining, and contract negotiations.
- Prepare and present monthly reports.
- Preparation of the annual marketing plan and budgets.
- Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
- Gain understanding of the hotel’s primary target customer and service expectations; serve the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solutions both prior to, and during the program/event.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships.
- Comply with quality assurance standards.
- Follow company and department policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; wear nametag; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
- Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.
- Have access to reliable transportation and follow attendance policy.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Marriott Systems (including CI/TY, MGS, etc.), Profit Sword and Microsoft Applications.
- Clear, concise and professional written and verbal communication.
- Lead and/or attend daily business review meetings, department meetings, and internal meetings as required.
- Collaborate with Revenue Management in providing accurate and timely group room projections and forecast.
