JOB SUMMARY
The Massage Therapist is an integral member of the NOW center wellness team. Directly responsible for providing individualized massages and body treatments to guest of the wellness center. Provide best practice techniques, with emphasis on ensuring members safety with minimal supervision.
Ensure excellent customer service to all guest of the NOW center. Responsible for developing client-focused massage needs to meet the demands of a diverse membership population. Provide expert guidance to allow for safe and desired wellness outcome.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess, plan and execute personalize massage methods and techniques for a variety of guest level clients, including medical diagnosis.
- Conduct intake assessment on all new clients, to determine specific areas of focus or precautions.
- Provide safe, suitable and effective massage techniques to clients.
- Demonstrate and model best practice techniques though continued industry education.
- Maintain confidentiality as well as sensitivity during client interactions.
- Keep massage areas organized, clean and inviting.
- Maintain clean linens and refilling of supplies.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and staffing schedules.
- Reporting of sales trends, client wellness data and community areas of interest to NOW center leadership team.
- Reports clients' complaints.
- Drive membership/ massage sales with knowledge of center and offerings.
- Provide tour of facility and services to new/ potential members/ community groups.
- Communicate and coordinate with internal departments.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

EDUCATION
- Hold a valid and up to date license with the State of Michigan.
- Experience in a spa setting preferred but not required.
- Strong willingness to seek and obtain additional training or certifications to enhance skill set and instruction.
- Certification in CPR/AED/ First Aid with the AHA only. Must be obtained within 30 days of hiring.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Strong skill set on the basic modality Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, hot stone, additional training is a plus such as Thai massage, maternity massage, reflexology and sport massage.
- Knowledge of relevant computer applications and data tracking software.
- Experience in stress tolerance and problem solving.
- Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.
- Perform consecutive massages on both males and female guest.
- Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC).
- Able to provide walking tours of Wellness Center as needed.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Willingness to work early mornings, nights and rotating weekends.
- Proficiency using modern office, computer and telephone equipmentas used by Memorial Healthcare.
- Use of NOW center membership program.
- Ability to adapt and maintain focus in fast paced, quickly changing or stressful situations.
- Promote the health and wellness benefits to clients of receiving massage therapy on a regular basis.
- Ensure positive customer service environment with all clients, members and staff.
- Able to see for the purpose of reading information received in formats including but not limited to paper, computer, reports, bulletins, updates, manuals.
- Able to hear for work-related purposes.
- Able to be in a loud, crowded environment for extended period of time.
- Ability to interact with co-workers, hospital staff, administration, patients, physicians, the public and all internal and external customers in a professional and effective, courteous and tactful manner, at all times, physically, verbally and in all written and electronic communication.
- Required to remain calm when adversity is encountered.
