FIREWALL ADMINISTRATOR

Travel: Frequent travel to site in Riverdale, MD.

Overview:

Entry-level firewall administrator needed to assist in day-to-day operational security duties in a firewall group handling Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto Network firewalls.

Responsibilities:

1. Coordination with various IT operations teams.
2. Perform Cisco security upgrades (including testing and roll-out).
3. Respond and analyze security incidents and events.
4. Build, monitor, and troubleshoot Cisco and Juniper IPSEC VPN tunnels.
5. Monitor, maintain, and implement security policies on firewalls.

Qualifications:

1. Experience working with Cisco networking and security solutions, usually gained over 1-2 years (including routers, switches, and firewalls).
2. Familiarity with Juniper and other firewall platforms preferred.
3. Experience using common networking tools to aid in troubleshooting, including nmap, wireshark, tcpdump, Solarwinds, and others.
4. Basic understanding of proxy and URL filtering services for end users (Websense preferred).
5. Basic understanding of anti-virus and client disk encryption technologies.
6. Basic understanding of IDS/IPS and SIEM operation.
7. Expertise in common networking concepts and protocols including, but not limited to:
8. TCP/UDP ports and protocols.
9. The OSI model.
10. Layer 2 switching concepts (spanning tree, VLAN trunking, etc.).
11. Experience with common network tools (e.g. tcpdump, Wireshark).
12. Extremely process and detail oriented.
13. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
14. Cisco or Juniper Security certifications (CCSP, etc.) greatly preferred.
15. General security certifications (CISSP et al) preferred.
