Position Overview:
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for glass and glazing projects. You will analyze project specifications, review architectural drawings, and work closely with vendors and subcontractors to develop comprehensive and competitive bids. Your attention to detail and knowledge of the glass and glazing industry will be key to ensuring project profitability and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to prepare accurate cost estimates for glass and glazing projects.
  • Perform material take-offs and determine the quantities of glass, frames, and other related components.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to clarify project requirements.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Prepare detailed proposals, including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
  • Identify potential project risks and incorporate contingencies into estimates.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of glass and glazing products, materials, and industry standards.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts and securing project agreements.
  • Track and manage the progress of bids, following up with clients and internal teams as needed.
  • Support the transition of awarded projects to the project management team.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in estimating, preferably in the glass and glazing industry.
  • Strong understanding of glass and glazing materials, systems, and installation techniques.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD).
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and project specifications.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and industry regulations is a plus.
