POSITION SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Membership Director, the Member Service Staff will assist with all day to day operations and responsibilities of the member service desk.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Exemplify the YMCA mission and values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility in all aspects of job performance and interactions/relationships with othersHelp lead staff meetings and trainingsAssist with planning and executing member appreciation events and new member promotions.Greet and assist all members, potential members and staff in a courteous, professional and friendly manner. Build relationships with members and guests by learning their names, actively listening, and expressing an interest in their YMCA activities. Strive to enrich their YMCA experience by introducing them to new programs, staff, members and volunteer activities.Accurately maintain cash drawer and adhere to accounting procedures.Build relationships with members and guests to make them feel welcome and part of our family at the YMCA and the communityAssist existing and prospective members regarding their individual membership needs. Respond to members' needs. Contact appropriate personnel when necessary. Handle complaints in a courteous manner. Effectively negotiate and resolve customer service problems. Use appropriate forms to communicate concerns or praise.Participate in on-going training to better equip yourself and the organization.Have knowledge of all facility programs and activities, both on and off site, knowledge of marketing promotions and procedures to effectively process all paperwork from programs to membership sales to properly setting up meetings for staff as requested.Have knowledge of computer operations including membership software, Microsoft Office and Outlook.Maintain a working knowledge of the emergency procedures.All other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diplomaExcellent communication skills.Knowledge of computer operations, specifically: Microsoft Office, Outlook, and membership software.Interest in recreation and leisure activities and a desire to help others achieve their goals in health and wellness.CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within ninety days of employment.PHYSICAL DEMANDSAbility to stand for long periods of time.Attention to detail on all items such as paperwork and member and guest communication.Lifting items up to 50 pounds.
