JOB SUMMARY
Proctors Collaborative is the Capital District's leading regional arts organization with performing arts venues in Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga, and education, civic engagement and economic development initiatives throughout the region. We're changing expectations about how the arts serve a community.
Proctors Collaborative seeks a Staff Accountant to join its Finance team in a full-time capacity. The individual will work across the Proctors Collaborative regional footprint, but the position is Schenectady-based.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepares and records general ledger journal entries for multiple entities.
• Reviews postings to the general ledger for accuracy and timeliness including analyzing any discrepancies and variances against budget.
• Reconciles monthly organization credit card transactions.
• Prepares monthly reconciliations from ticketing and donation system to accounting system to ensure accurate reporting.
• Assist in cash flow management including upcoming cash requirements.
• Assists with annual audits, tax returns, and government filings for multiple entities.
• Assists with monthly financial reporting.
• Provides redundancy for Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable functions.
• Codes data for input to financial data processing system.
• Conduct, review, and maintain cash audit logs across multiple venue locations.
• Assists with other projects and assignments as needed.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience in an office environment is preferred; experience in a non-profit accounting role is a plus.
• Experience with ERP systems, working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics SL desirable.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision and be committed to completing tasks on a timely basis in addition to working in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and deadlines.
• Knowledge of accounting concepts and proficiency in standard office computer software including MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work nights and weekends at various times throughout the year.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
• lift boxes and other materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
