Job Requirements / Description

Duties:

  • Performs liaison activities between areas of manufacturing, production or distribution for the purpose of ensuring efficient and timely scheduling of materials and commitments.
  • Oversees data management of requested material and maintaining inventory levels to satisfy customer demand, avoid backorders and maintain fill rate objectives.
  • Maintains inventory turns, fill rates, backorder dollar objectives and resolves supplier issues
  • Manages effective dates of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) to ensure that all inventories are used prior to converting Bill of Materials (BOMs)
  • Recognizes and manages external supply issues, including international holidays, transportation bottlenecks, etc.
  • Analyzes quotations using broad purchasing principles, concepts and practices for cost/price and total value analysis to select, recommend or develop alternative suppliers
  • Trains suppliers to understand ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice) and AVS (Automatic Vendor Scheduling) to improve delivery
  • Applies negotiation skills to resolve vendor disputes with an acceptable outcome and decides appropriate resolution to problems that may arise during the strategic sourcing contracting processes
  • Develops and maintains awareness of changing commodity-related business trends in the marketplace and the possible impact to the business
  • Conducts market and material studies; researches and evaluates benefits of contract or open-market purchases and/or benefits of outsourcing
  • Monitors and tracks vendor performance through periodic financial reviews, product performance, customer satisfaction surveys, and customer feedback
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field, or equivalent education and experience
  • A minimum of three years of experience in purchasing or related field in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing and supply strategies, purchasing function concepts and supplier commodity processes and practices
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for report writing presentations and interactions with diverse groups of people inside and outside of the corporation
  • Proficient computer skills including familiarity with SAP, Access, Google, and MS Office applications
  • Ability to meet deadlines and organize and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to see a wide range of detailed work through completion
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, distribution, inventory, and quality procedures and management programs and systems
  • Ability to read and/or interpret blueprints and/or complex engineering drawings
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location
