Position Overview:
The Senior Risk Analyst Position is an experienced position in the Middle Office. The Senior Risk Analyst will be primarily responsible for assisting the Middle Office in maintaining the integrity of the supply trading portfolio by understanding the transactions and the underlying risk limits. The Senior Risk Analyst will work closely daily with Risk Analysts, other Senior Risk Analysts, Physical and Financial Marketers/Traders, Schedulers, and accounting personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Daily valuation for risk and trading books and production of P&L and position reports for Chemicals and Natural Gas.
- Responsible for understanding and managing a book of business (Chemicals and Nat Gas).
- Partner with other analysts to be a backup for other books.
- Participate with the middle office for the ETRM implementation project.
- Identify, comprehend, and analyze the various risks of deals and structured transactions contained in the portfolio. Promote/enforce compliance with established transactional and portfolio limits.
- Monitor and analyze the organization’s market risk exposure for both short-term and long-term strategies/transactions.
- Assist in determining appropriate methodologies such as mark-to-market, VaR, etc.
- Generate and review daily risk control reports for distribution to management.
- Troubleshoot process breakdowns/errors with daily system processes.
- Interact with internal customers such as supply coordinators, supply coordinators analysts, accounting, confirmations, credit, contracts, etc.
- Manage the requirements and demands of multiple key stakeholders.
- Interact with various internal and external audit groups.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, General Business, Accounting, or Engineering.
- Extensive experience (minimum 7 years) in risk analysis and management within crude and products commodity markets and financial derivatives, with a focus on Chemicals.
- Must have 3+ years of RightAngle experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of logistics, such as vessel, rail, truck, and pipeline.
- Highly motivated and detail-oriented individual who works well in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Team-oriented and comfortable interacting with diverse teams.
- Multi-tasking – the ability to manage multiple contacts, databases, spreadsheets, and tasks.
- Must be able to work in an office environment.
- Strong applicable knowledge of SQL/ Power Query, Power BI, RightAngle, Excel, etc.
