The Organization:
Homeward Bound is the leading nonprofit organization in Buncombe County focused on preventing and ending homelessness using the best practice Housing First model. We work collaboratively with community partners and have a proven track record of helping individuals and families achieve housing stability. Since 2006, Homeward Bound has moved more than 2,275 people off the streets, out of cars, camps, and shelters and into permanent housing - 89% have not returned to homelessness.
Schedule and compensation: This is a part-time, non-exempt, hourly position. 29 hours a week. Schedule can have some flexibility. 1 remote day a week, schedule permitting. Starting pay rate is $23/hour. This position is not benefit eligible.
Tasks:
  • Coordinates bi-weekly payroll in Paychex and ensures that associated activities and reports are completed and uploaded as required.
  • Assists in maintaining employee personnel records in HRIS.
  • Full circle Recruiting- Coordinates preliminary talent acquisition including job postings, resume reviews, and initial phone interviews, and job fairs. Scheduling interviews for managers. Assists in onboarding, I9's, background checks, benefit registration and/or termination.
  • Schedules and coordinates New Hire Orientation and ongoing training programs with Program Directors.
  • Assists with basic unemployment claims paperwork.
  • Assists with workers compensation claim reporting and follow up.
  • Assist with reporting & audit preparation. Including year-end and quarterly reports, W2's, 1095's, 401k etc.
  • Provides back up HR support to staff in the absence of the HR Director.

Position Requirements
Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience, preferably at a nonprofit organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field preferred, not required.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written required
  • Demonstrate creativity and productivity in written, digital, and visual communications.
  • Experience with Paychex Flex preferred
  • Computer Literacy required
  • Ability to operate spreadsheets and databases, manage email communications, and navigate the internet efficiently.
  • G-Suite knowledge preferred
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must be able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
