Position Overview
Lead and manage company in all aspects of safety, operations, sales, finance, equipment and critical support functions with primary responsibility for ensuring effective execution of company operational performance and growth strategy. Competency requirements include business acumen, customer focus, developing direct reports, drive for results, strategic agility and building effective teams. This role will be based in Springfield, MO and will lead our APAC-Southern Missouri and Conco businesses which together form the leading vertically integrated building materials business in Southwest Missouri. The preferred candidate is a proven leader that can cultivate a culture of safe production, capitalize on available synergies, and lead the unified business to double digit growth.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Promote a safe working culture for all employees; work with safety and field personnel to minimize risk and increase safety for employees at all times.
- Responsible for daily operations including safe production, quality, customer focus and maintaining the integrity of the safety and environmental systems within the company’s operations for aggregates, asphalt, ready mix, construction and equipment.
- Drive operational performance and improvements to meet or exceed company and regional goals.
- Generate and manage the operating budget for the fiscal year under the direction of the Regional President.
- Provide leadership and direction to ensure efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
- Build effective teams and develop (direct reports) for future opportunities.
- Lead team in personal performance management, training and development, succession planning and effective recruiting and hiring. (Partnering with HR and Recruiting)
- Ensure that all crews have the tools and training to operate safely at all times and that all federal, state and local laws concerning safety, environment and other applicable areas are adhered to.
- Monitor/control production activities through direction of the line of business leaders to ensure work is conducted safely, on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
- Provide advice and support to team during the job bidding and material quoting processes.
- Management of Capital Expenditure Projects for assigned area.
- Work with Regional President to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies.
- Collaborate with peers and provide leadership and support for national, division and region business improvement initiatives.
- Provide leadership and direction in sales and marketing efforts resulting in maximum product sales, meeting or exceeding customer expectations, and driving maximum profitability.
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or other related discipline and/or equivalent combination of knowledge, skills and abilities. Advanced degree preferred.
- A minimum of five years of managerial/leadership experience in a role leading a team of professionals; demonstrated experience of successfully managing a business P&L; experience within the construction industry particularly in aggregates, asphalt, ready mix, and construction is highly preferred.
Work Requirements
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures per company policy.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Individual is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes and Safety Vest.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Ability to prepare annual budgets and work with and/or administer budget; ability to answer questions and present financial data to Regional President and others.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Demonstrated success in managing/leading large group of employees.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Viewpoint, Tableau and HCCS
- High standard of ethics, integrity, and trust.
