This product line includes our Integrated Toll Module, the associated toll aggregation services, and the vast world of digital commerce and cloud software services.
Skills
As the Lead Product Manager for this segment, you will bridge the gap between the market, internal research, business development, external partners, engineering, PM, and sales, clarifying what should be done and why. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must; you should be comfortable & productive in dealing with senior executives as well as tactical, working level roles. Knowledge of Software as a Service (SaaS), Cloud Computing Platforms, Transportation Tolling, Digital Commerce and other unique business models all a plus. As the Lead Product Line Manager, you will also:
- Research the competitive environment and develop the product vision, strategy, and roadmap.
- Be actively involved with customers, customer team (Sales, PM, Commercial Finance, Engineering).
- Conduct customer calls, demonstrations, presentations, and technology discussions.
- Gather, manage, and prioritize market/customer requirements.
- In conjunction with the PM & sales teams, support proposals & quotations for RFQs, RFIs and drive pre-sales technical efforts.
- Collaborate with engineering to define product development objectives within budget and schedule.
- The position will require travel across the USA, Europe, and Asia.
Purpose Of Position
- Design & develop new products and features in prototype, pre-launch & launch environments.
- Lead and manage a team of Product Engineers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the development of Product Line strategies, roadmaps and presentation material.
- Design and develop products or product families per the product strategy & roadmap.
- Research and support new technology assimilation opportunities, including internal R&D, partnerships, investment opportunities, acquisition candidates, licensing, etc.
- Attend trade shows and build relationships within your Product area and ecosystem.
- Manage, organize, and direct all activities as they pertain to business planning, interpreting, organizing, and executing projects and business in the assigned product area.
- Research & experiment as needed, to become a subject matter expert in your product area.
- Coordinate test procedure development for validation & quality assurance of finished products.
- Coordinate specification & requirement development for product functionality and performance metrics.
- Plan & develop prototype Proof of Concept (POC) systems for trade shows & customers.
- Interface as needed across all areas and organizations within Gentex to ensure feasibility & consensus.
- Ensure new designs utilize parts, methods, and practices, which are practical and realistic in actual production, and have been vetted with launch teams prior to hand off.
- Support and maintain Gentex engineering and manufacturing standards as well as the formal operating systems defined by Gentex, AIAG, and QS 9000, TS16949 UL regulations.
Position Demands
- Demonstrated success in electronic systems, project engineering and program management.
- Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures, including automotive standards, Gentex core technology specifications, and knowledge of the fire protection industry.
- Utilize extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in multiple complex projects.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected; must be comfortable operating in a gray space & coloring outside the lines.
- Skills in communication, project scheduling, and management of electrical designs preferred. B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline preferred.
- 10+ years of related work experience a must. Ability to develop others through support, managing, coaching, delegating, and personal leadership.
