Job Summary
This position will have the full responsibility of coordinating the Second Chance Pell (SCP)/Prison Education Program (PEP) at Arizona State Prison Complex (ASPC)-Perryville. This includes working directly with Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation and Re-entry (ADCRR) in order to obtain qualified applicants. Additionally guiding the potential students through the entire process from being admitted to the college, to laptop check and bi-weekly check-ins to determine academic progress. Candidate will need to have knowledge of Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as it relates to incarcerated students. In addition, duties will also include advising, correspondence and onsite career and technical education (CTE) students on academic pathways.
Essential Functions
65% - Performs program coordination and administration including operational planning, program management and evaluation, problem-resolution and technical assistance directly related to SCP/PEP
25% - Designs, develops, maintains and delivers program resource information, presentations, reports, correspondence, and promotional material
10% - Creates and maintains files, records and databases. Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.
OR
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.
OR
High School Diploma/GED and six (6) years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.
Desired Qualifications
A. Experience working within a prison environment
B. FAFSA knowledge/experience
C. Advising, counseling and/or program management experience
D. Adapting to, navigating and/or knowledge of college-specific computer application programs and systems, to include ADCRR) (eg. SIS, ACIS)
Special Working Conditions
Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. Will be required to obtain an Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR ) clearance. Process may involve personally invasive questionnaire, and extensive background check. Position in located at ASPC Perryville in Goodyear, AZ.
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:
