Position Description:This UAW-represented position includes:Conduct pre and /or post operation and safety checks of the equipmentSets and operates CNC machine to perform drilling, tapping, boring, milling, and turningPresets tools using a tool setterSecures parts on fixturesDetermines tool compensation values as a result of tool ware.Occasional use of precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges.Occasional use of air toolsClean up work area including raking/ shoveling chipsIdentifies, troubleshoots and corrects machine problemMust be able to read blueprintsMust be able to work in a team-based environmentMust be able to communicate (both verbally and in writing) with employees at various levels of the organizationMust be able to work with computers to input data, etc.Must be able to perform basic shop math.Position Requirements:Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (International Trafficking and Arms Regulations).Must successfully complete vetting process administered by Department of Army Police for unescorted facility access.Must be at least 18 years of age and have high school diploma or equivalent (GED).Must successfully complete pre-employment process including but may not be limited to background check, medical exam, and drug screen.2 to 5 years experience as CNC machinist, preferred.Must be willing and able to obtain and maintain a radio-controlled overhead crane license.Must obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license.Working Conditions & Environment:Ability to work in production environment, including:Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and handling various parts up to 60 lbs.Climbing ladders and stairs both into and onto vehicle structures.Bending, kneeling, standing, stooping, crawling.Potential for walking and standing on uneven surfaces.Working in and around dust, fumes, oils, mists, lubricants, solvents and in areas with a high noise volume.Depending upon departmental assignment wearing a respirator may be required.Using hand tools including, but not limited to sledge hammer, pry bar, wrenches, air/gas couplings.Operating radio-controlled crane for lifting and moving material.Overtime and off-shift work may be required.Wearing of required PPE (personal protective equipment) is mandatory.General Dynamics Land Systems is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
