Job Title: Director, Value Optimization and Financial Planning

Location: Virtual, remote worker location possible

Studio Business Group (SBG) is looking for Director of Value Optimization and Financial Planning who will be responsible for value optimization across the portfolio of SBG projects and setting financial goals and targets for titles and studio teams within the overall SBG portfolio. This will be executed taking into account top down SBG business financial targets, portfolio developments and value optimization analysis performed by the team led by this role. This is a role that operates at the junction of SBG Leadership team, studio teams and various functions and requires an individual with a strong commercial mindset, influencing skills and value judgment as well as the ability to operate dynamically under changing circumstances and constraints while remaining resilient to various stakeholder expectations. You will be leading a team whose role is to conduct commercial and value optimization analysis on projects and opportunities in areas such as sales optimization, marketing spend efficiency, and opex optimization. You will lead the team fostering collaboration across multiple finance and non-finance functions. It is a high visibility and high-profile role that will be involved in decision-making processes and therefore we are looking for a candidate who will have sound gaming market understanding, strong financial judgment skills, and the ability to remain objective and resilient under stakeholder pressures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Set/recommend to SBG LT financial targets for titles/studios to meet overall SBG financial targets, projects and studio team for revenue, opex, and profitability as well as selected KPIs; this is for multiple processes such as project investment decisions, annual budgets, and long-term strategic plans.
  2. Dynamically adjust financial targets if material events occur that require rebalancing under new constraints.
  3. Ownership for short term and long term P&L value optimization for SBG projects ensuring efficient allocation of capital to maximize value under given constraints.
  4. Lead a team that performs commercial value optimization work such as marketing spend efficiency, price setting, sales optimization, and business models analysis.
  5. Collaborate closely with the portfolio management team ensuring top down portfolio constraints are effectively translated into projects as well as with studio partnering groups ensuring targets are stretched but realistic.
  6. Effectively collaborate with SBG and non-SBG partners ensuring the right information, data, and input is considered in value optimization.
  7. Initiate and lead commercial review projects across specific projects or across the portfolio or its subset (e.g. price elasticity analysis, marketing efficiency, etc.).
  8. Effectively influence stakeholders across multiple disciplines from leadership team members to various functional teams.
  9. Develop and present results and recommendations to decision-making stakeholders in an effective and influential way.
  10. Build, coach, develop, motivate, and lead a team of commercial and value optimization professionals ensuring forecasting talent bench is developed, maintained, and expanded.
  11. Stay apprised of broader industry developments, key business metrics, and industry trends and benchmarking analysis of the gaming industry.

Qualifications & Skills:

  1. BA/BS in business, strategy, finance, economics or related field; MBA and/or CFA designation preferred.
  2. 12-15+ years of experience in roles in finance planning, strategy and business intelligence, consulting or market research.
  3. Experience in the gaming industry and/or is an advantage but not a must.
  4. Experience in working on portfolio project and financial optimization gained in roles operating at the junction of business leadership and project delivery, for example in portfolio optimization, business analysis, and target setting.
  5. Experience in value optimization in consumer businesses (e.g. marketing & sales).
  6. Data-driven approach combined with robust judgment and objectivity.
  7. Resilience under pressure including from senior stakeholders.
  8. Self-starter, showing initiative and ability to work independently.
  9. Strong communication and presentation skills.
  10. Experience in leading teams: passion for building effective, motivated, and professional teams.
  11. Strong work ethic and confidentiality a must.
  12. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  13. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work under time constraints.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
