Job Title: Associate Director, Contract Development

Department: Market Access, Pricing, Analytics & Contract Management (PACM)

Reports to: Director, Contracting Operations


Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Contract Development will oversee and manage U.S. Market Access contract processes, ensuring smooth execution of pre- and post-deal analytics, negotiations, and contract administration for Payer, Provider, and Trade & Distribution agreements. This role plays a crucial part in advancing strategic contract initiatives aligned with business goals. The individual will work closely with Account Management, Finance, Government Pricing & Rebate Operations, Legal, Marketing, and other teams to ensure proper governance and successful execution of contracting opportunities.


Key Responsibilities:

Contracting Process Leadership & Oversight:

  • Manage the full contract development process for Payer, Provider, and Trade & Distribution agreements, including evaluations, pre-deal analytics, negotiations, and legal reviews.
  • Draft, redline, and maintain contract templates and agreements.
  • Develop and improve internal processes, working across Finance, Legal, and Market Access teams.
  • Track contract development and execution status, coordinating timely communication with key stakeholders.
  • Transition executed contracts to operational teams, outlining important terms for implementation or adjudication.
  • Provide insights for forecasting, contracting, and pricing strategies.

Collaboration & Partnership:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and optimize contracting opportunities.
  • Support internal contract processing, review, and reporting efforts.
  • Provide guidance on contract administration, rebate analysis, payments, and dispute resolution.

Pre- and Post-deal Analytics:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis before and after negotiations to support decision-making.
  • Assist Account Managers with business planning and contract performance reviews.
  • Use financial models to verify calculations and present business scenarios to pricing approval forums.


Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline required; MBA preferred.


Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years in payer contracting, contract administration, or analytics within the Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, or related industries.
  • At least 2 years of pharmaceutical contract drafting experience.
  • Experience in finance, accounting, sales, or government pricing related to pharmaceutical contracts.
  • Strong stakeholder management and knowledge of pharmaceutical pricing, government programs, and associated regulations.
