License: Registered Nurse License
Certifications: BLS, NIHSS
Must-Have:
- Trauma/surgical experience
- Skills in wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV, and medication administration/documentation
- Telemetry experience
Job Description:
- Work in a 492-bed facility with a Level II Trauma Center and Level III NICU
- Assignments based on MedSurg units with diverse patient types: Trauma, Surgical, Neuroscience, Oncology, Orthopedics, and Clinical Decision Units
- Provide care for patients undergoing General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Neuroscience procedures, and more
- Handle patient ratios generally between 1:5-6, depending on unit requirements
- Conduct complex procedures like trach care, PEG tube management, and telemetry monitoring
- Utilize technology such as Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
- Orientation includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit
- Participate in weekend rotations and holiday scheduling
Support on the Unit:
- CNA with a ratio of 1:6 for VS, ADLs, and glucose checks
- Receptionist/HUC presence
- Charge nurse available
- Phlebotomy and IV/VAT Team
- Telemetry monitoring by telemetry techs, with RNs required to interpret q4 hour strip readings
