Job Requirements / Description

Cottonwood Creek Veterinary Hospital is a well-established, two location, multi-doctor, mixed animal practice located in the Waco, Texas area. Established in 2015, we are a privately owned practice that strives to ensure the best quality care for our patients and clients as the local community thrives and grows, quite rapidly. While being considered a general practice, we pride ourselves on an extensive reach of additional services to ensure available care close to home for our clients. We service a wide variety of species including small animals, exotics, bovine, equine, small ruminant, swine, cervid, and more!

We offer wellness and preventative care to build relationships with our patients and clients as we believe in a strong foundation as the basis of our care. We also offer a variety of other areas of medicine not always available in general practice including orthopedic surgery, multispecies reproductive services, emergency care, internal medicine, lameness, and more! Our aim is for practitioners to explore their individual special interests within the field and are open to new areas of medicine to offer exceptional care to our patients.

We aim to maintain up to date technology at each of our locations to be able to offer the best quality of diagnostics. Our practices feature a full IDEXX suite of laboratory equipment, multiple digital ultrasounds (including separate machines for bovine reproductive services), digital (DR) radiology, digital dental radiography, digital (DR) portable radiology, extensive bovine reproductive service (including embryo transfer – conventional & IVF), full anesthetic monitoring, tonometry, 3-meter scope, surgical suite, ICU Wards, separate parvo isolation wards, very spacious covered and semi-enclosed barn with equine, bovine and small ruminant housing capabilities, work areas separated by species, a full hydraulic tilt chute, additional tilt table, stationary and portable equine stocks. We re-evaluate equipment and technology needs and desires regularly to ensure we are up to date with available services.

We are proud to have a well-established support staff team that is dedicated to supporting our veterinarians in offering the best quality of care possible. We aim to continuously foster an environment that supports teamwork amongst all levels of our staff. Our core values are seen throughout the levels of staff to ensure our commitment to our patients and clients. Our staff, doctors, and practice work diligently in societal involvement as we aim to give back to the community that so graciously has supported us and helped us grow into the clinic we are today.

In addition to numerous externship programs for both veterinary students and support staff students (college and high school level), we attend primary school career fairs to engage with future generations, support livestock shows/4H/FFA programs, host field trips to the clinic for primary school age students, offer emergency service to the local fair, cooperation with the local zoo, hosting vaccination clinics in the community and more.

We aim to provide strong mentorship with the practice owners, who are available for consultations and case discussions. In addition, with multiple other veterinarians on staff, we have excellent collaboration to combine many great minds to excel in a cooperative effort on work ups and complicated cases. We have established relationships with numerous referral facilities within reasonable driving distance to further our patient care when their needs have exceeded our capabilities.

We are proud to offer a competitive base salary that is not production based as well as a $10,000 sign on/retention bonus. In addition to base salary, we offer generous after-hours compensation. We offer an array of benefits including paid medical insurance, dental insurance, paid liability insurance, retirement plan (401K with company contribution), paid state & federal license fees, paid AVMA membership, paid time off, continuing education allowance, paid gym membership (with attendance agreement), generous personal pet discounts (extended to immediate family), free boarding, and paid local VMA membership. We work to ensure that veterinarian schedules are posted at least 2-3 months in advance to allow plenty of freedom for your time in our continued efforts to ensure an excellent work-life balance.

Candidates must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited veterinary school (including pending completion), be licensed or able to obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Texas, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be capable of working well in a cooperative team environment. As a part of our team of veterinarians, members are expected to provide medical care to a variety of species, perform vaccinations, routine procedures, dental procedures, soft tissue surgery (including spay/neuter), develop and implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress and provide follow up care, order and interpret diagnostic tests, maintain complete patient records, provide client education and work with other members of the veterinary team to provide the highest level of care. As a fast paced practice, a strong work ethic is a must as part of our cooperative team that aims to provide exceptional service at all times.
