About The Job
The Walmart US eCommerce Fulfillment Services team builds products that allow Marketplace sellers to easily provide fast, affordable delivery options to Walmart's customers. We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Inbound Transportation Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing multiple transportation programs, leading a team, and ensuring seamless coordination of inbound logistics across ocean and ground transportation modes.
In this role, you'll collaborate with Fulfillment Operations, Product, Account Management, Finance and Analytics teams to set the vision for and build solutions for sellers. Obsessing over optimization and reducing friction throughout our operations is at the heart of this role. The Business Operations team part of Walmart Fulfillment Services facilitates making our vision a reality by identifying and executing on the most important cross-functional initiatives. As a Business Operations Manager, you will help scale the business by helping make fact-based decisions and increase operational efficiencies while building good processes that support our growth.
Responsibilities
- Program/Operations Ownership: Take ownership of multiple inbound transportation programs, including planning, execution, and optimization to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of transportation coordinators and analysts, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure team success and alignment with organizational goals.
- Transportation Expertise: Utilize in-depth knowledge of both ocean and ground transportation modes to develop and implement strategic transportation plans that optimize routing, minimize costs, and meet service level agreements.
- Supplier Management: Collaborate with suppliers, carriers, and logistics partners to negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and resolve any transportation-related issues in a timely manner.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve inbound transportation processes, workflows, and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and visibility throughout the supply chain.
- Data Analysis: Analyze transportation data, key performance indicators (KPIs), and metrics to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, industry standards, and company policies to mitigate risks and maintain operational integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience (X years) in transportation management, with expertise in both ocean and ground transportation modes.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in transportation data analysis, KPI monitoring, and performance metrics.
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software applications.
- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and challenges.
Travel
- This role will require up to 30% domestic travel to fulfillment centers.

- You have related experience in Management Consulting, Business Operations, Product Management, Analytics, or related field.
- You are a self-starter with a strong attention to detail and an ability to deal with ambiguity.

- You have Supply Chain experience and/or a manufacturing background.
- You have an understanding of end-to-end supply chain management (scheduling, warehousing, fulfillment).

- You are analytical and process-oriented, comfortable making data-driven decisions, and thirst for continuous improvement.
- You have an ability to set clear team objectives and performance measures.
- You have demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and willingness to take on responsibilities outside primary job description when necessary.
- You are assertive, adaptable and demonstrate initiative in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- You are proficient in Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word.
- You have strong experience in SQL or other data querying languages.
