Position: Sr. Software Engineer / Database Engineering team - MuleSoft

Location: Office flexible in San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA

MuleSoft is currently searching for an Engineer with a focus on Database management, Linux fundamentals, and a proven understanding of schema design and database optimization in open source database systems. We are looking for someone to help our database engineering team perform day-to-day tasks and assist in implementing our database as a service vision. As part of the Production engineering data team, you will work closely with engineers from multiple teams to keep our infrastructure stable, diagnose and fix performance issues, and identify and implement improvements to processes or tools already in use.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our engineering teams on building, maintaining, and monitoring the infrastructure for our platform.
  • Assist with new tools and processes for managing Mulesoft’s database infrastructure.
  • Design, optimize, and maintain a large distributed data environment.
  • Identify existing and potential performance pitfalls and work with the engineers to diagnose and fix them.
  • Prepare MuleSoft’s database infrastructure for the next phase of rapid scaling.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of AWS RDS (Postgres, MySQL).
  • Linux / Unix experience.
  • Experience with configuration management tools, Terraform preferred.
  • Past experience monitoring, maintaining, and tuning databases in a highly available environment.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation for production incidents to maintain operational excellence and high availability.
  • Knowledge of database proxies (RDS Proxy, Proxy SQL) a plus.

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $151,800 to $208,800. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $165,600 to $227,700.
