Job Title: Junior Property AccountantSalary:$61,000 depending on experience and education.Full Time position - 40 hours per weekSchedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pmBenefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, LTD, and 401(k)The ideal candidate will have a degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field. With an Associates Degree, 2-3 years experience. With a Bachelor's Degree 1-2 years experience. Experience within the property management sector is a plus.Leisure World of Maryland Corporation (LWMC), the property management company for Leisure World of Maryland, is a private, age-restricted community comprised of 29 community associations representing over 5,600 homes and extensive Trust operations, located in Silver Spring, Maryland is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to oversee the financial activities of some of the associations.The Junior Property Accountant is responsible for performing accrual accounting procedures for assigned Associations.We are looking for someone who has experience in the following areas:Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts by performing such functions as maintaining general ledger, recording of deposits, and reviewing invoices ensuring that all disbursements are made in accordance with policies.Ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.Performing variance analyses and prepare account reconciliations.Preparing and recording asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.Maintaining and balancing subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.Maintaining general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.Summarizing financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.Prepare for financial audit and coordinate the audit process including reconciliations, balanced reserve summaries, and reserve funding analysis.Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.Maintaining the general ledger and perform other accounting duties as assigned.Special Requirements:High level of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to meet a constant stream of deadlinesProven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employeesSuperior analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents and to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsFamiliarity with accounting software and programsAbility to interact and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with community residents and outside organizations and agencies at various levelsKnowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and auditing practices and principlesProficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products including Excel and WordWe can offer you a challenging and rewarding environment with many opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve great results.
