Goshen CS is looking for an experienced Director Operations to oversee all operations, functions and activities. You will be the face of the organization, responsible for giving the proper strategic direction and implementing a high-quality vision. An excellent director operations is an influential manager with ability to lead, role model and motivate. They have great communication skills and take a holistic approach in managing the organizations operations. The goal is to manage and lead the organization towards the realization of its mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and coordinates, directly or through subordinate coordinators/supervisors, a significant area within the organization.
  • Lead by example.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates short and long range goals.
  • Establishes priorities and allocates resources to meet goals.
  • Assists in negotiating and administers contracts with community social services organizations and monitors compliance with contract provisions.
  • Develops and implements approved policies, services, and procedures.
  • Oversees placement for vocational, residential, and day care of eligible consumers taking a leadership role in advocating individual choice, person-centered planning and changing roles of professionals providing services.
  • Establishes and maintains liaison with other governmental and community service agencies.
  • Maintains liaison with administrators/support coordinator of contracts to resolve problems, interpret policies, ensures contract compliance, and promotes self-determination practices.
  • Represents company on various local and state governmental and community committees and boards.
  • Coordinates all personnel decisions including hiring, corrective actions and terminations.
  • Monitors, assists, or provides in-service training, staff development, and consultation to staff members regarding vocational, day, social, behavioral, recreational, personal living, personal choice, and community services issues.
  • Provides direct services in crisis or extremely difficult/emergency situations.
  • Organizes resources in ways that are life enhancing and meaningful for consumers.
  • Participates in the development and administration of the budget with the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures. Analyze evaluate and develop recommendations for or changes to existing administrative and operational procedures as necessary and appropriate.
  • Analyzes and develops new programs and alternatives to existing programs emphasizing consumer personal choice.
  • Acts as an advocate in ensuring personal freedoms, responsibility, and support, assists in resolving problems, and securing needed services for consumers.
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates professional and support personnel.
  • Collects and analyzes statistical data for determining cost/benefit ratios.
  • Acts as a technical expert and monitors all program's functions and licensing requirements for community programs.
  • Assists in performing various treatments including counseling and crisis intervention as well as physical management procedures as necessary.
  • PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AND ASSIGNMENTS AS REQUIRED.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Community resources in social services programs.
  • Program planning and evaluation, report writing, and data analysis.
  • Responsibility of an advocate and fostering self-determination practices.
  • Theory, principles, and practices of professional work with developmental disabilities and mental illness.
  • Principles and practices of contract administration and budgeting principles and practices.
  • Principles and practices of self-determination and individualized supports.
  • Principles and practices of supervision and management.
  • Behavioral treatment plans and person-centered planning.
  • Administering a social services program by implementing the theory, principles, and practices of professional program management.
  • Analyzing and evaluating social and/or behavioral data to determine the needs of consumers.
  • Interpreting laws, rules, regulations, and policies.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public or business administration, social or behavioral sciences or a closely related area and one year of related experience; or four (4) years of specific equivalent training/experience and five (5) years of professional experience coordinating, planning and implementing residential and/or community programs for developmentally disabled/seriously mentally ill population ; including:
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience. (Additional relevant experience and education may be substituted for a portion of the requirements.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English both in writing and verbally.
  • Able to positively interact and develop rapport with consumers and their families, professional support staff, and various levels of staff from community agencies.
  • Able to maintain a calm, non-defensive, supportive attitude during crisis or potential crisis situations.
  • Willingness to undergo an extensive background check.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Principles of modern methods of public and business administration with special reference to organization, fiscal budget and personnel management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Principles and practices of supervision and performance evaluation.
  • Service delivery systems for individuals with developmental disabilities.

ABILITY TO:

  • Direct administrative, fiscal, budgetary, and operational activities.
  • Stay current with pertinent laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Plan, supervise, and evaluate work activities of program and administrative staff.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with the Advisory Committee, Rights Review Committee, staff, volunteers, donors, agency funding sources and members, in the performance of required duties.
  • Work with individuals with different interest and opinions and build effective teams.
  • Communicate effectively, both written and orally.
