Position Summary

The Nursing Simulation and Skills Lab Facilitator participates with and assists Nursing Department faculty in the development, implementation, and integration of simulation and skills lab activities for nursing students; serves as a facilitator to faculty and students in teaching/learning situations of nursing skills, simulations, and debriefing sessions; and provides instruction, orientation, and evaluation to learners. Experience in the following area is preferred: Pediatric Nursing. Additional areas of experience desired include Obstetrics, Medical Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, or Foundations.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with nursing faculty to ensure educational course needs are being met
  • Promotes student safety
  • Promotes critical thinking and clinical reasoning
  • Cultivates relationships with Simulation and Skills Lab faculty to create seamless daily operations
  • Assists with maintaining simulation and skills lab equipment and inventories
  • Contributes to the maintenance of record keeping for all simulation and skills lab activities
  • Maintains an awareness and working knowledge of industry developments
  • Participates in holding students to program and professional standards
  • Ensures accurate student assessment and evaluations are completed
  • Facilitates learning of knowledge across the span of nursing
  • Orients new staff and faculty to the philosophy, learning activities, policies, and procedures of the Simulation and Skills Labs
  • Other duties as assigned similar to those outlined above, consistent with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the job

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Exempt
  • Days of the Week: Mon - Fri
  • Hours: Varied daytime hours dependent upon student needs. Start times often begin at 7:00 - 7:30 am
  • Evenings and Weekend Work: Some evening work and occasional weekend work dependent upon student needs
  • Schedule: Position is primarily in person, on campus with occasional remote option subject to supervisor approval
  • Travel: Rarely except for professional development opportunities

Required Qualifications

  • An active, unencumbered nursing license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Colorado
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program
  • Minimum of five years' full-time or equivalent professional clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a nursing specialization from an accredited program
  • Experience facilitating simulation for students
  • Experience teaching in a skills lab
  • Familiarity working with the educational needs of students from diverse populations
  • CHSE Certification in simulation

Salary For Announcement

Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The anticipated hiring range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $72,000 - $79,000.

This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
