Project Manager Senior

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.

Currently, the Information Resources Management Directorate has several projects that support NPS and partners with web mapping, data center management, data management, data asset management, telecommunications management, integrated library systems, and information management functions. These projects are in various states of the project lifecycle, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. Project management services are needed utilizing industry best practice standards for specific activities requiring coordinated planning, guidance, documenting, and leadership actions. Project management is defined as the application of processes, methods, knowledge, skills, and experience to achieve the desired project and customer objectives and meet specific success criteria.

Project Manager Senior Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate the transition from Project Development to Project Implementation to Project Completion.
  • Organize Team Resources, including Steering Committees, Project Teams, and Work Groups, as needed.
  • Develop high-level project plans and achieve buy-in on task responsibilities and timelines from the appropriate team members.
  • Define communications, issue management, and scope management strategy and achieve approval from the appropriate team members.
  • Solicit input from appropriate staff to evaluate cross-system impact.
  • Evaluate project risks and develop contingency plans, as appropriate.
  • Define project objectives and define success measurements.
  • Develop and communicate appropriate project documentation, including project overview, scope, team structure, status reports, issues management reports, change control reports, meeting notes, etc., as required and in a timely manner.
  • Develop, coordinate, and submit for government approval all requested project documentation. This will include the creation and maintenance of project management artifacts throughout the project lifecycle, including project charters, cost assessments, cost-benefit analysis, needs assessments, risk analysis registers, stakeholder registers, implementation plans, strategic plans, and project timeline diagrams.
  • Ensure Approval of developed requirements and design.
  • Develop detailed project plans.
  • Coordinate both execution and monitoring/controlling phases of the Project Implementation Process.
  • Complete close-out phases of the Project Processes.
  • Ensure team consensus of project completion.
  • Complete project close-out documentation, especially Lessons Learned.
  • Coordinate and support steering committee, project team, and work group meetings, as required.
  • Support and communicate project status to team members and executive staff, including management of project website, consistent status reporting, and presentations.
  • Identify, document, and assist with project issues and escalate, as appropriate, to achieve timely resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies including meeting deadlines, when applicable.
  • Ensure integrity and security of institutional data.
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Project Manager Senior Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of direct project management experience with at least 6 years in IT project development.
  • PMP, PfMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA, PgMP, PMI-RMP, and/or PMI-SP certification is a plus.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
