Job Description:
The Business Analyst (BA) will join a global team of Business Analysts and will be based in Houston, Texas. He/She will report to the Product Owner of Risk and is expected to guide our organization into the future in their concerned area.

The selected candidate will focus on gathering, analyzing, designing, and maintaining all modules in relation to the Risk stream, developed in Client’s in-house CTRM. The candidate should oversee and be part of all Risk deliveries on a large scale for all products traded within CTRM (Primarily Oil Physical and Derivative, but also Natural Gas if required).

Main relationships:

  1. Liaises internally and builds close, collaborative relationships with his/her user base (MO/FO/Quants primarily) and the surrounding business areas (Accounting, Ops).
  2. Be part of a large IT Programme of over 100 people (BA, DEV & QA) working in the development of this CTRM and its modules.

Key Tasks:

Business Analysis

  1. Demonstrate a service-oriented approach, an understanding of the customer’s business needs, and achieve and maintain high customer satisfaction ratings.
  2. Manage client expectations effectively.
  3. Serve as a ‘Product Owner’ of the Risk module(s), developing forward-thinking systems and features within the CTRM and outside (i.e., Reporting/BI tools).
  4. Design integrated solutions with other product owners across locations (Finance, Front, Accounting) and commodities (Oil, natgas, power).
  5. Work hand-in-hand with a dedicated team of C# (WPF) developers to his/her stream.
  6. Be part of the SDLC for all Risk developments of a CTRM that has been developed in-house from the ground up for the past 6 years.
  7. Keep a constantly specified and prioritized backlog of stories to develop and lead the development throughout Daily Stand-ups and workshops.
  8. Participate in migration and transition from Client’s legacy system over to the new CTRM (i.e., Position/PnL reconciliation, new Flash PnL feature).

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

  1. Participate in daily stand-ups.
  2. Gather requirements across the group’s locations and departments (i.e., Geneva, Singapore, Houston).
  3. Run workshops with Business and IT (dev, QA).
  4. Maintain an up-to-date list of specifications in DevOps (taking part actively in backlog refinement sessions with the Agile team).
  5. Report to the Product Owner and/or the PMO on the progress of your deliveries.
  6. Train 1st level support and act as a 2nd level support on the modules you will be responsible for.
  7. Work hand-in-hand with the QA (testers) in the testing of your stories and always help them improve the regression tests.
  8. Provide quick wins to your user base (i.e., using PowerBI reports).

Profile:

  1. Formal education, ideally at University level or equivalent level of certification and experience.
  2. Minimum 3 years of previous relevant professional experience.
  3. Proven experience as a business analyst, capable of understanding risk business requirements and implementing them.
  4. Proven experience in lengthy implementation and/or upgrade of CTRM/ETRM, Trading (Physical/Financial), and its associated Risk modules.
  5. Strong knowledge of a trading asset class (Commodity & Derivatives preferred, or Equity, Fixed income).
  6. Experience of providing excellent Customer Service to a local and global user base.
  7. Expert communicator.
  8. Team player with the ability to exercise flexibility, demonstrate initiative to ensure the business needs are met proactively with minimum supervision.
  9. Good interpersonal skills, especially communication, able to communicate technical solutions to non-technical users in a multi-cultural working environment and able to cope in stressful/difficult/conflict situations in a service-oriented manner.
  10. Highly organized and possess analytical and problem-solving skills.
  11. Be self-motivated and creative and able to work with minimum supervision.
  12. Understanding of database design, SQL, and report generation within business applications.
  13. Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  14. General skills on ICT technologies.
  15. Good knowledge of any of the following commodities (Gas, Power, Coal, Emissions, Agriculture) and the ability to learn.
  16. Other languages in addition to English will be useful but not mandatory, e.g., French, Russian.
  17. Certifications/experience on any of the following will be very useful: Microsoft software technologies, Software design, development and testing methodologies/concepts, Project management, ITIL, Technical certification.
  18. Strong SQL and/or Python skills. Ability to debug/write stored procedures.
  19. Ability to create PowerBI reports (or other BI tools).
