Economic Analyst

Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position works under the limited supervision of the Workforce Program Analysis Manager to Create complex Ad hoc and recurring standard reports, as related to performance, reporting, and analysis, according to state and federal program policy for department's workforce programs. Prepares written analyses, reports, data visualizations and presentations for both internal and external customers. Provides labor market data in response to requests for information.
Identifies and analyzes complex management systems and performance reporting problems and issues related to or highlighted by performance reporting for state workforce and workforce related programs including Wagner-Peyser (WP), Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Welfare Transition (WT), Food Stamp and Employment Training (FSET), Migrant Seasonal Farm Worker (MSFW) and Trade Adjustment Act (TAA) state and local.
Gathers and organizes information on problems and procedures, plans and conducts studies related to these items, documents findings of these studies, and prepares recommendations for implementation of new system procedures.
Validates data to ensure that performance outcome reports, within the department, to USDOL, other agencies, CareerSource Florida, Inc. (CSF), and the Local Workforce Development Boards (LWDBs) are correct.
Validates reports workforce programs.
Verifies Ad Hoc reports to ensure that program policy is followed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of the following software: MSSQL Server.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Oracle SQL, Tools for Oracle Application Developer's (TOAD), Relational Databases, report writing software such as Crystal Reports, Tableau, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
Minimum:
  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
  • May be required to travel and must provide own transportation.
Preferred :
  • Experience with R programming
  • Background in economics, mathematics, statistics, or a related social science
  • Knowledge of workforce case management systems
Pay:
$50,000 - $55,000 annually

The Work You Will Do:
This position independently performs advanced level work under limited supervision of the Senior Management Analyst Supervisor-SES in the Workforce Statistics and Economic Research, Workforce Program Analysis team. Incumbent conducts complex economic research studies and analysis, compiles economic data for various assignments, and distributes and/or presents information to the public. In addition, this position is responsible for researching the appropriate data sources and methodologies to be used in major quantitative and qualitative research projects that are relevant to the agency's goals and objectives. Data sources and methodologies recommended should be based on industry standards and best practices.
