Software Engineer for Mobile Robots - Honda Research Institute USA
Honda Research Institute USA (HRI-US) is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to design and develop scalable and reliable software modules for autonomous driving and cooperative mobility. Candidates will work with a team of scientists and engineers to implement state-of-the-art algorithms on physical systems as well as maintaining and improving existing code libraries.
Location: San Jose, CA
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to architect a full system including software components for hardware platforms.
- Implement low-latency and high-performance software prototype modules, integrate, deploy, and test them in both simulation and real AD vehicles.
- Develop software infrastructure and tools, such as test scenarios, baseline algorithms, module interfaces, etc. to facilitate the team's development efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S or M.S. candidate in computer science, or robotics.
- Familiar with modern software engineering tools such as Git, CI/CD, Containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
- 2+ years of programming experience in C++ and Python.
- 2+ years of experience with Robot Operating System (ROS/ROS2).
Bonus Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in real-world robotics applications.
- Experience with vehicle simulators such as Carla, Carmaker, etc.
- Familiarity with vehicle sensors and hardware, including cameras, LiDAR, GPS, CAN, IMU, USB, Ethernet.
