The Coastal Hospitality General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the hotel to include: daily oversight of hotel operations; sales and marketing efforts; revenue maximization; profitability; Brand standards; guest satisfaction and associate relations.

What You Will Bring To This Role:

Sales & Marketing

  • Work with Corporate Sales team and Complex Director of Sales on selling strategies and identifying key accounts
  • Participate in Sales calls
  • Utilize Marriott and Corporate tools and strategies to increase revenue opportunities
  • Participate in monthly Sales Review meetings
  • Be knowledgeable in reading and interpreting all Sales reports

Financial Accountability

  • Prepare forecasts and budgets
  • Manage property expenses related to rooms, housekeeping, engineering and miscellaneous guest items
  • Monitor and manage labor expenses
  • Work with Corporate accounting team on finalization of P&L reports, AP and AR items
  • Measure, analyze and report property performance

Revenue Management

  • Work with IHG 'Revenue for Hire' partner
  • Collaborate on rate strategies to maximize occupancy and revenues
  • Manage and balance inventories
  • Make adjustments based on market conditions

Property Operations

  • Champion all Marriott Brand initiatives and brand standards
  • Ensure service standards and IHG service tools are fully implemented
  • Manage the day to day performance of all Associates
  • Project leader for all hotel capital improvements. Collaborate with corporate VP of Construction on Capital projects.
  • Prepare for QA audits
  • Communicate with hotel ownership on all matters of importance
  • Champion all guest relations activities. Respond in a timely fashion to all guest concerns.

Employee Relations

  • Partner with the property HR Manager to recruit, hire, coach and train all new associates.
  • Facilitate the performance review process
  • Champion all Marriott and Corporate sponsored training initiatives
  • Maintain a positive workplace by developing associates for career growth
  • When necessary, coach and counsel associates following Company guidelines
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals, some of whom require a great deal of patience and tact

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three (3) years of Executive Committee or Department Head experience in a hotel
  • Previous experience as a Director of Operations, Assistant General Manager or General Manager
  • Experienced in forecasting and budgeting
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent use of the English language to communicate with guests, Associates and hotel ownership both verbally and in writing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four year college degree
  • Marriott Brand experience
  • Knowledgeable in recruiting tools and practices
  • Familiarity with seasonal demand markets

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

  • Ability to walk around facility (indoors and outdoors) to inspect property
  • Near and far vision to conduct visual inspections of hotel rooms, public areas and exterior areas of the property
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach overhead, push and pull up to 100 lbs

Candidates must be available to work a varied schedule to include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
