Job Description
Job Description
Air Traffic Management ML/AI Software Engineer
Position Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) NextGen project is working with NASA Ames to explore using modern data analytics and Machine Learning (ML) technologies in enabling an info-centric digital National Airspace System (NAS). Join our team and help us reimagine air traffic management for the 21st century. This position will support several projects:
Advanced Methods and Adaptive Learning for Flow Management and Routing Decision Development
This effort seeks to conduct design, engineering, and feasibility analysis on the application of advanced AI, speech and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies to Traffic Flow Management (TFM).
Responsive Artificial Intelligence Framework
This effort seeks to draft a unified framework and associated metrics document that will quantify and validate the safety assurance and robustness of future potential ML-based services.
Flight Deck Collaborative Decision-Making
This research project seeks to improve aircraft surface movement by delivering more innovative specifications to the Electronic Flight Bags (EFB). This includes exploring the feasibility of delivering Digital Taxi Instruction (DTI), automatically generated from controller voice instructions, on the EFB app.
Urban Air Mobility Airspace Management Simulation Analysis
This project will support ongoing efforts between the FAA, NASA, industry partners, and other stakeholders to help validate concepts described in the FAA’s UAM Concept of Operations v2.0. The project seeks to exhibit creation and management of notional UAM corridors and architecture components that support information exchanges in the ecosystem.
