How your role fits into Calnin and Goss:
Our Civil Estimator will provide estimating services with the goal of creating estimates that generate successful bids for earth work, utilities, and demolition projects. Responsibilities include preparing, planning, organizing, and evaluating estimates along with submitting bids and responses to proposals. The Civil Estimator will be responsible for coordinating and oversight of internal and external estimating resources.
What you get to do:
  • Work with the project team to finalize documents for the specific deliverable.
  • Generate and present project proposals to potential clients and customers.
  • Assist and support the bidding process including sub-contractor quote solicitation, bidders' communications, proposals evaluations, and bid evaluation.
  • Reviews contractual requirements with supervisors and develops a plan for the project construction that is utilized as the basis of the cost estimating process.
  • Assembles bid-files including all development information that was utilized in preparation of the estimates.
  • Coordinate and schedule take-offs with the GPS Manager.
What we expect from you:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other related degree required.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum five years of experience in civil construction estimating or related field.
  • Proficiency in using civil construction estimating software to create comprehensive estimates.
  • Familiarity with project management processes and tools, including Bluebeam.
  • Expert in reading and evaluating drawings, specs, and relevant contract documents.
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interact and collaborate at all levels.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills for accurate cost calculations
  • Experience with Trimble Business Center is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license may be required. Individuals in this role may be subject to an annual Motor Vehicle Records check. The outcome of any MVR checks conducted may negatively impact the persons' ability to participate in any vehicle program provided by the company, including but not limited to the ability to drive a personal vehicle on behalf of the Boldt Company or rent a vehicle through for business travel purposes.
Physical requirements and working conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for up to eight hours. The employee occasionally is required to move to access people or workspaces. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. The ability to optimally communicate is required. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds.
The working conditions of this position requires the employee to work inside an office environment. The environment for which this position functions may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.
