Job Overview: A prestigious law firm located in Detroit, MI, is seeking an experienced Environmental Partner Attorney. This role will be instrumental in providing expert legal guidance on environmental law issues, particularly related to real estate and corporate transactions. This is an opportunity to work with a highly regarded environmental practice group that excels in complex regulatory matters, compliance, and due diligence, alongside a team recognized for its contributions to environmental law and industry knowledge.

Duties:

  1. Provide legal counsel on environmental aspects of major transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructurings.
  2. Draft and negotiate environmental-related agreements, including representations, warranties, and indemnities.
  3. Offer regulatory advice and strategic counsel on compliance and environmental permitting.
  4. Collaborate with partners, clients, environmental consultants, and government entities to ensure regulatory adherence.
  5. Offer post-transaction guidance on environmental compliance and permits.
  6. Participate in client meetings, delivering high-quality and responsive communication.
  7. Build and maintain strong relationships within the firm and with external clients.
  8. Actively engage in networking and business development opportunities.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 6 years of experience in environmental law with a focus on real estate and corporate transactions.
  2. Demonstrated ability to manage complex environmental legal issues across various industries.
  3. Experience working with regulatory agencies and in compliance with environmental regulations.
  4. Strong communication and organizational skills, with a proven ability to work under tight deadlines.
  5. Capable of traveling as required to meet client needs.

Education:

  1. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  1. Licensed attorney in Michigan, Illinois, or Washington, DC, or eligible to waive into one of these jurisdictions.

Skills:

  1. Expertise in environmental law, especially in areas such as real estate and corporate law.
  2. Ability to effectively negotiate and draft legal agreements related to environmental regulations.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a high degree of initiative.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
