Position Summary
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join the SyBridge Digital Solution Engineering team at our Itasca, Illinois headquarters. You will be the end-to-end owner of technical application requirements for CNC machining and sheet metal applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution from design to production. In this role, you will conduct technical part reviews, supplier capability assessments, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis, ensuring manufacturing cost accuracy and efficient production processes for both prototype and high-volume projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support customer CNC machining and sheet metal applications ranging from on-demand prototyping through high-volume production.
  • Analyze customer CAD data, 2D drawings, parts lists and other technical specifications to evaluate manufacturability and scope of work.
  • Coordinate with Cost Engineering to identify deviation requests and clearly communicate terms to customers and suppliers for approval.
  • Collaborate with both internal and Customer Quality teams to define inspection plans.
  • Support internal continuous improvement initiatives that reduce costs and improve standard operating procedures.
  • Lead internal investigations and support corrective action stemming from customer complaints and/or returned products.
  • Troubleshoot in-process manufacturing and part design issues.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to confirm key application details are captured in cost estimation.
  • Advise cross-functional teams and customers on manufacturing methodology and manufacturability for 3-axis, 5-axis and lathe CNC machining applications.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred or a 4-year engineering degree from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably a machine shop, with a focus on CNC machining.
  • Strong background in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Siemens NX).
  • Strong understanding of part drawing specifications, including complex GD&T and critical feature recognition.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable leading cross-functional teams in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • General understanding of CAD/CAM processes.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales and Supply Chain.
  • Experience in managing or participating in PPAP, FAI, and other common inspection processes.
