Our focus is on ensuring we build a strategy for the sustainability technologies, deliver pilots and provide technology for the various verticals in Amazon to accelerate the adoption of clean power generation technologies.

As a TPM, you will be managing multiple programs focused on developing the solutions for clean power systems and overseeing multiple deployments from start to commissioning across the US. You will partner with various stakeholders across Amazon business units and drive clean power initiatives. This role is critical in rapidly scaling the clean power footprint within Amazon and helping to extend the influence to the global hydrogen industry. Up to 25% travel required.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Manage the evaluation of new technology vendors for applications such as microgrids, distributed energy resources (DER), EV charging, Prime Power for Amazon buildings and any other use cases.
  2. Manage multiple development programs focused on integrating sustainable power technologies into Amazon’s operations through the lifecycle of the program including business case development, vendor selection, technical requirements gathering, design, permitting, construction, commissioning and launch.
  3. Develop and own the roadmap for enhancing efficiency, improving life/durability and reducing total cost of ownership for the sustainable power systems.
  4. Lead creation and maintaining project documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and progress reports.
  5. Collaborate with various vendors, EPC companies, certification agencies and construction managers to deliver deployments at Amazon buildings.
  6. Establish KPIs for evaluating performance of sustainable power technologies and report to stakeholders on a regular basis.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in power generation systems, such as fuel cells and natural gas generators, with a proven track record in product development, power engineering and delivering innovative energy projects. The candidate will have hands-on experience in deployment of large-scale hydrogen or natural gas power generation systems. The right candidate will have working knowledge of energy storage systems and think strategically about the business, operations, and technical challenges. They will have the skill-set to drive tactical execution of project schedules, contracts, initiatives and team goals. The candidate should have the ability to program manage several initiatives simultaneously.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/MS required in Mechanical/Electrical engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in leading large-scale power and energy programs from start to completion utilizing a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of power generation systems and power electronics
  • Experienced in developing technical customer specifications and KPIs at the system levels and ability to critically analyze data in terms of system performance and reliability
  • Experienced collaborating with external stakeholders such as vendors, contractors and regulatory authorities to provide end-to-end oversight and drive program deliverables
  • Experienced in creating financial analysis in the energy sector and managing budgets
  • Passionate about clean energy technologies and sustainability

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience working directly with clean fuel power generators and microgrids
  • Experience in process safety and process equipment design
  • Experience in designing and commissioning microgrid systems
  • Ability to create structure in an ambiguous environment
  • Ability to rapidly gain knowledge of new power technologies and identify potential use case opportunities in Amazon
  • Experience in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of complex engineering systems
  • Experience in working with startups in energy space
  • Strong experience in sizing power generation and energy storage systems
  • Ability to present updates and business review to executives and influencing decisions

Compensation: Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
