Insight Global is looking to hire an Engineer focused on assessing, integrating and launching IOT equipment related to energy consumption for one of North America's largest submetering firms. You will be sitting out of Long Island City, NY - Hybrid 3 days on site. You will be joining a dynamic Engineering team and be responsible for the full end to end roll out of any new meter intakes, or upgrades. This will include understanding and documenting how the hardware works from hands on perspective, defining use/design standards and best practices, creating technical documentation of standard operating practices in order to operationalizing the entire company for use of newly onboarded technology. The ideal candidate will have a mix of networking, IOT background, along with documentation with an interest in working with sensors, meters and being curious. You will like to tinker, find solutions and innovate.

Key Responsibilities will include

1. Technology Onboarding and Integration

○ Lead the onboarding of new meter technologies and ensure their effective integration into existing systems.

○ Collaborate with cross-functional teams (tech, installation, billing etc) to facilitate seamless technology rollouts.

2. Documentation Development and Maintenance

○ Create and maintain clear, user-friendly documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user guides, and quick start guides.

○ Identify gaps in existing documentation and implement improvements to enhance clarity and usability.

3. Data Collection and Analysis

○ Assist in the collection and analysis of data from energy monitoring systems and submetering devices.

○ Evaluate data transmission methods (e.g., FTP vs. HTTP) to optimize performance.

4. Project Collaboration

○ Work collaboratively with engineers on project implementation, ensuring that all aspects are executed effectively.

○ Contribute to project documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.

5. Continuous Improvement

○ Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance team capabilities.

○ Foster a culture of curiosity and innovation within the team, encouraging exploration of new solutions.

6. Training and Knowledge Sharing

○ Educate team members on best practices for documentation and technology use. Conduct training sessions to ensure all staff understand new technologies and processes.


Required Skills:

- 1-5 years of experience as a Engineering background with eng. education

- Strong documentation skills

- Python scripting exp is preferred

- Understanding/writing experience of SOPs, User Guides, Instructional guides

- Working knowledge of IPs, Networking, Sensors, IOT, cellular operationalization

- Proficiency in reading schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams related to HVAC/Building systems.

- Experience with the following; Analyzing data, providing insights, Reviewing diagrams, blueprints and single line charts; Creating best practice documentation; Testing new equipment and providing recommendations

- Strong analytical skills to interpret sensor data and make data-driven decisions for system optimization.

- Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills


Salary: $55,000-65,000/year
