SUMMARY
This position is responsible for overseeing and coordinating activities of the Raw Sugar Department
FUNCTIONS
- Ensures environmental, safety compliance of refinery operations, as well as customs standards, homeland security guidelines, and site security requirements.
- Responsible for daily operations of raw sugar warehouse and the refinery.
- Coordinates with maintenance personnel to prioritize maintenance work.
- Ensures compliance with all company policies.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
- Understands process and shift constraints, suggest changes in process and use of equipment to increase efficiency in raw sugar department.
- Responsible for troubleshooting all problems that occur in sugar handling and peripheral equipment and requesting mechanical or electrical assistance when needed.
- Coordinates with logistics on incoming raw sugar shipments. Schedules crews to handle unloading of vessels as needed.
- Records shipment information in logs and data sheets.
- Assigns storage locations, coordinates and schedules movement of raw sugar to minimize cost.
- Maintains an accurate daily record of raw sugar inventory and consumption.
- Ensures the refinery does not run out of sugar.
- Adheres to labor and equipment budget.
- Supervises raw sugar employees and informs contractors of business needs.
- Approves employee's time cards, mentors, counsels and disciplines raw sugar employees.
- Responsible for the cleanliness/FiveS of the area assigned. Reviews and approves Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Analyzes and resolves problems and assists and trains employees.
- Reviews daily instructions and communicates important information to other employees. Responsible for communicating the daily plan to refinery operators.
- Develops work schedules to meet work requirements.
- Records shipment information on logs and data sheets.
- Writes summary reports.
- Communicates daily with management technical staff and maintenance.
- Develops work schedules to meet work requirements.
- Responsible for auditing operator's documents (log books, round sheets and other checklists) to verify completion.
- Responsible for knowing and enforcing all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety procedures, GMP and SQF guide lines.
- Responsible for notifying the Quality Control department in the event of a food safety /quality issue.
- Writes work orders and reviews backlogs in CMMS.
- Supports TPM and maintenance initiatives. Interfaces with planners and schedulers.
- Participates and supports continuous improvement efforts through facilitation of DMAIC and DNA teams.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary: $80,000.00- $90,000.00

Experience

- Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience,

- Five to ten years of work experience in raw sugar department
WORKING CONDITIONS
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is rarely exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

- Supervises 8 to10 employees.
Decision Making /Accountability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to understand servo/PLC driven equipment.
