Description:

  • Account reviews for underwriters, account/broker meetings, and presentations.
  • Conducting property loss control inspections of various types of process industries and commercial properties. This will include occupancies such as: High Rises, Metal Workers, Distribution Centers and Warehouses, Museums, and Hospitals.
  • Responsible for maintaining own schedule and writing survey reports.
  • Provide guidance to underwriting staff regarding risk quality/insurability.
  • Evaluating sprinkler systems, building additions, and fire alarm plan reviews and providing guidance to clients.
  • Maintaining up-to-date inspection record data base.
  • Develop Loss Control Fee Proposals
  • Job functions break out is approximately: Desktop review and risk selection (30%), On-site surveys and risk evaluation of existing and prospective clients (50%), Client Meetings (10%), General Consulting and Presentations (10%).
  • A company car is provided.
Skills Experience / Required:
  • Understanding of sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, process hazards, property loss control issues preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of loss prevention codes (NFPA, FM, API, ASME, etc.) standards and industry practices preferred.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently, as well as in concert with underwriters and to manager multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good communication, writing, organization, customer relation, public speaking and time management skills.
  • Good familiarity with basic computer operations with knowledge of software programs such as Word and Excel.
  • College graduate with minimum Bachelors of Science in recognized engineering discipline with preference given to fire protection.
  • Preferred minimum 5 years' experience performing Property Loss Control field inspections for an insurance, consulting, or brokerage company.
