**License:** New York State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required
**Certifications:**
- ARRT Registered (RT) and radiograph (R) or (CT) certified and/or NMTCB registered (CNMT)
- Passing advanced CT examination/certification within 1 year from date of hire
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required or completed within 90 days of hire
- DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-month orientation
**Must-Have:**
- Continuing education requirements: 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on the year of birth
- Radiation dose pledge through the American College of Radiology (ACR) during orientation and before end of probationary period
**Job Description:**
- Perform routine and some special procedure medical radiographic images utilizing CAT scan equipment
- Prepare and position patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol
- Assume responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures, producing high-quality technical images and reviewing exams for quality and completeness
- Assist physicians during procedures as necessary
- Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations; notify senior staff when supplies are low
- Work in cases of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department, including standby and on-call coverage
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and accessories
- Process images or print CDs when needed
- Perform routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/films, and documenting patient information in digital systems
- Notify transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned
- Potentially serve as an instructor or preceptor
- Treat all individuals professionally and courteously, upholding hospital behavioral standards
- Introduce self, use two patient identifiers, and explain exams to patients and/or family members
- Provide care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of various patient populations
- Perform quality assurance tasks and calibrations in accordance with New York State and ACR standards
- Attend staff meetings and in-service training
- Perform other related duties as assigned according to departmental needs
**Physical/Mental Demands/Work Environment:**
- Ability to remain stationary 50% of the time
- Occasionally move about the department to access patients and paperwork
- Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery
- Frequently communicate with patients to exchange accurate information
- Frequently move and position patients for exams
- Potential exposure to necessary chemicals, with information available through SDS database
