Responsibilities & Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide proactive onsite support to one or more Senate offices as assigned.
  • Act as liaison for the SAA.
  • Understand the uniqueness of the Senate office environment.
  • Proactively manage their systems by anticipating issues that could occur in their respective assigned offices due to system changes, software upgrades, and other environmental changes.
  • Research, evaluate, test, and make recommendations of new technologies to the Sergeant at Arms on an ongoing basis. Once an acquisition has been made, develop an implementation plan installing, configuring, and testing equipment; training staff; and updating documentation.
  • Initiate a pre-installation meeting for all server and complex installations in a Senate office.
  • Answer any questions pertaining to the IT catalog with regards to compatibility and the SAA best practices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer related field.
  • 5+ years of customer direct support.
  • Experience and technical skills in Windows Server, Windows Desktop, Mac OS clients, MS Exchange, MS Office, HP hardware, and Network Communications.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills required.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and communication skills. OEM certification in the technology being applied.
  • Able to successfully multitask multiple issues.
  • Previous experience at the Senate is a plus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills required to prepare and deliver technical briefings and reports to SAA staff and/or hardware and software vendors.
  • Experience supporting both Windows and Apple environments with associated back-up solutions and the ability to install and troubleshoot hardware and software in both.
  • Ability to effectively teach concepts to customers.

Overview

We are seeking a System Consultant to join our team supporting the Senate in Washington, DC. This program provides comprehensive services for Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs), supporting around roughly 12,000 users at the U.S. Senate. The program covers the acquisition, delivery, configuration, integration, and upgrade of IT products, along with installation and on-site maintenance, including help desk services. Additional support includes hardware delivery, moves, upgrades in state offices, and technical assistance for systems, ensuring efficient, secure, and up-to-date IT infrastructure.
