Acara Solutions has been providing our staffing services to advanced manufacturing firms national for 65+ years. Our Santa Barbara, CA manufacturer client is looking for an Electro-Optical Systems Integration Engineer to join their organization onsite. The salary range is $130K - $150K. They also have a similar position with a Senior title, salary up to $190K.
The Electro-Optical Systems Integration Engineer's primary responsibility will be to design, integrate and characterize electro-optical test systems in support of company market segments (Infrared Scene Projectors, Standard Commercial Products, and Integrated Electro-Optical Test Systems).
Perform integration engineering, which dies are good using visual inputs End-to-end system build Wafer probing, analyze wafer testing results Make sure wire bonds and related systems are working properly debug systems Characterize systems using test products Lots of customer interaction. Product shipped, join onsite to help setup, run tests, and then get customer sign off. During all of this, think as an engineer and determine if there are more efficient ways or better designs to improve things.
Responsibilities:
  • Develops specifications and guides design of complex electro-optical test systems.
  • Performs system performance modeling and requirements flow down analysis to support development.
  • Develops system compliance methodology, including test procedures.
  • Collects and analyzes test data makes adjustments to optimize system performance.
  • Interacts directly with customers during factory acceptance testing and travels to customer facilities to lead on-site system installation, integration and training.
  • Performs routine troubleshooting, test and calibration in support of on-going programs, as well as special-purpose programs.
  • Works with electrical and mechanical engineering staff to document changes made to hardware and deviations from standard procedures as necessary.
  • Performs analysis to support sales department in efforts to identify possible solutions to potential customers' applications.

Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or similar technical degree Min 5 years of systems engineering experience, including within electro-optics and/or infrared systems. **A Master's degree can substitute some years of experience. ** Excellent trouble-shooting capability and analytical skills ** Wafer probing, wafer testing experience Min 5 years of experience w/ MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
Some travel expected from 5% to 15% possible.
This is an ITAR facility, U.S. persons required.
Preferred: Experience with electrical and optical lab tool measurement, e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, microscopes, cameras, etc. Experience performing radiometric measurements and modeling E/O systems Proficiency with image data analysis software Experience with proper handling of ESD sensitive parts, including PCB cards. Working knowledge of MEMS and/or photolithography fabrication processes (MEMS devices put on wafers) CMOS background
