THE POSITION

Are you looking for a paid internship in the exciting world of public health? The Department of Health is seeking applicants for apart-timeinternship during the 2024-2025 school year. The internship will last 3 to 6 months with the possibility of an extension. This paid internship is open to all Pennsylvania students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level academic program. You will have an opportunity to support the Division of Environmental Health Epidemiology's (DEHE), Pennsylvania Occupational Safety and Health Surveillance (PennOSHS), and Adult Blood Lead Epidemiology Surveillance (ABLES) programs by conducting essential research activities and data collection. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The selected intern will assist PennOSHS in drafting occupational health-related manuscripts by conducting literature reviews, writing background sections, and creating data visualizations using software such as Microsoft Excel, R Studio, or Adobe Creative. Additionally, the intern will assist with data entry, conducting phone interviews, developing outreach materials, and analyzing data. This is also an opportunity to support supplemental lead surveillance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time internship (15 to 20 hours per week)
  • Work hours are flexible, Monday - Friday.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

  • Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree program or higher.
  • Good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher).
  • Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid driver's license that is not under suspension.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
