Job Description:
The Redshift Admin Engineer consultant will be responsible for various key data systems and services, including AWS services (EC2, RDS, Redshift, S3, ELB, NLB). The consultant will perform Redshift administration and release management activities. This role requires a highly motivated individual with strong technical ability, data capability, excellent communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to develop and troubleshoot a diverse range of problems.

Responsibilities:
  1. Administer and maintain scalable cloud environments and applications for data organization.
  2. Understand business objectives and create cloud-based solutions to facilitate those objectives.
  3. Implement Infrastructure as Code and deploy code using Terraform, GitLab.
  4. Install and maintain software, services, and applications by identifying system requirements.
  5. Hands-on experience with AWS Services and DB and Server troubleshooting.
  6. Extensive database experience with RDS, AWS Redshift, MySQL.
  7. Maintain the environment by identifying system requirements, installing upgrades, and monitoring performance.
  8. Knowledge of day-to-day database operations, deployments, and development.
  9. Experience with Snowflake.
  10. Knowledge of SQL and performance tuning.
  11. Knowledge of Linux Shell Scripting or Python.
  12. Migrate systems from one AWS cloud to another AWS account.
  13. Troubleshoot system hardware, software, and operating systems.
  14. Secure web systems by developing access control and monitoring.
  15. Test disaster recovery policies and procedures; complete backups; maintain documentation.
  16. Upgrade systems and services and develop, test, evaluate, and install enhancements.
  17. Communicate with internal teams, like EIMO, Operations, and Cloud Architect.
  18. Communicate with stakeholders and build applications to meet project needs.

Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering.
  2. Minimum of 12 years of experience in system, platform, and AWS cloud administration.
  3. Minimum of 5 to 8 years of database administration and AWS experience using the latest AWS technologies – AWS EC2, Redshift, VPC, S3, AWS RDS.
  4. Experience with Java, Python, Redshift, MySQL, or equivalent database tools.
  5. Experience with Agile software development using JIRA.
  6. Experience in multiple OS platforms with strong emphasis on Linux and Windows systems.
  7. Experience with OS-level scripting environments such as KSH shell, PowerShell.
  8. Experience with version management tools and CI/CD pipelines.
  9. In-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite and security architecture.
  10. Advanced SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring, and performance tuning.
  11. Experience supporting and optimizing data pipelines and datasets.
  12. Knowledge of the Incident Response life cycle.
  13. AWS solution architect certification is a plus.
  14. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
