We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Primary Care Physician to provide quality care to patients of all ages, from birth to geriatrics, in a Patient-Centered Medical Home model. Under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, you will deliver evidenced-based medical care, supervise midlevel providers, and contribute to the overall clinical leadership of the care team.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Manage direct patient care, including physical exams, evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments.
- Document patient history, medications, allergies, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record (EHR).
- Provide medical orders, including prescription refills, medication administration, ancillary testing, and referrals.
- Review test results and ensure timely patient notification.
- Educate patients on disease management and prevention.
- Ensure all documentation complies with insurance and reimbursement guidelines and is completed within the required time.
- Participate in the on-call schedule.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Average patient load: 21-25 patients per day.
Supervisory Duties:
- Supervise midlevel providers, ensuring quality care.
- Review midlevel providers’ patient charts to ensure high standards of care.
Administrative and Miscellaneous Duties:
- Work with clinical staff to develop and implement clinical protocols.
- Follow all agency policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Participate in health promotion and prevention programs, as appropriate.
- Build and strengthen relationships between the health center and other providers and organizations in the community.
- Maintain required licensure and certifications, including CME requirements.
- Attend staff and provider meetings as requested.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Support the mission of PATHS.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate from an accredited school of medicine.
- Hold a current license to practice in Virginia.
- Current DEA certificate.
- Board certification preferred.
- CPR certified.
- Credentialed per Community Health Center policies for billing services under Medicare/Medicaid.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms and progress.
- Strong knowledge of legal and ethical standards for medical care.
- Proficiency in prescribing medications and educating patients on their use.
- Familiarity with community medical services and diagnostic care.
- Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, EClinical Works, and Google.
