We are seeking an experienced and compassionate individual to join our team as a Full-Time Mentor to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
Position Overview:
The Full-Time Mentor to DSPs will provide essential guidance, training, and support to new and existing Direct Support Professionals. This role focuses on ensuring that DSPs are well-equipped to deliver exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. The Mentor will serve as a role model, trainer, and resource, promoting best practices and continuous improvement within the team.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group mentorship to new and existing DSPs.
  • Model exemplary support practices and demonstrate effective care strategies.
  • Assist DSPs in understanding and implementing individualized support plans and behavior management strategies.
  • Monitor DSP performance, providing constructive feedback and support to enhance their skills.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages professional growth and collaboration.
  • Assist in the development and updating of training materials and resources.
  • Support DSPs in managing challenging situations and provide guidance on problem-solving techniques.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with DSPs to assess their needs and provide ongoing support and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with management and other team members to ensure consistency and quality in service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, mentorship activities, and DSP progress.
  • Maintain and conduct in-person Home and Work Studies
  • Stay current with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and excellence in service delivery.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Direct Support Professional or in a similar caregiving role.
  • Proven ability to provide high-quality support to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in training, mentoring, or supervising staff.
  • Ability to pass a background check and any required health screenings.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenging situations.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Direct Support Professional or similar credential.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Experience with behavior management strategies and techniques.
  • Knowledge of local resources and services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
