Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio (BGCNEO) is searching for a TANF Programs Director to be a key member of our Government Grants Program Management team.

The TANF Programs Director is responsible for managing the grants and program deliverables designated by the department of Jobs and Family Services in Lorain County. This individual will coordinate efforts to ensure grant compliance including programming facilitation, eligibility processes, reporting and documentation, and resource distribution. The qualified candidate will be skilled in providing academic and mentoring support to youth, project management, and have strong written and verbal communications.


This role is a Grant-Funded position for two (2) School Years. (Details can be discussed further during interview process)

The position is full-time, working within the Northeast Ohio region, predominately in Lorain County. The Salary Range for this position is $65K - $75K per year, plus benefits. This position reports to and receives direction from BGCNEO’s Senior Director of Government Grants Administration.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Mentoring and Tutoring Program

  • Plan and manage the process for recruiting TANF eligible members at the granted locations to participate in the M&T program and coordinate the eligibility process
  • Enrich member’s education by training, coaching and supervising tutors to improve specific skills needed in reading and math; register members for and utilize computer adaptive programs to assess needs and track progress
  • Train, coach and oversee mentors and program coordinators successful implementation of SMART Moves and CareerLaunch curricula, ensuring the improvement of member’s social/emotional skills
  • Train, coach and assist mentors’ administration of the Second Step (SEL) program and assessment tool to gauge social-emotional needs and track progress
  • Work with Tutors/Mentors to plan and implement monthly parent engagement events at each granted Club location
  • Maintain all required documentation including attendance, assessment results, parent engagement flyers, etc. for each granted location and manage reporting

PRC Summer Camp Program

  • Coordinate the eligibility process for members
  • Serve as lead contact for Lorain County Jobs and Family Services regarding eligibility process support needs and follow up
  • Submit monthly attendance logs and invoice spreadsheets for reimbursement

General Expectations

  • Assist grant writers with applications providing narrative and data as requested
  • Assist with any additional projects as assigned by program administrative management
  • Must have the ability to work weekend and evening work schedules
  • Must have the ability to travel to various Club locations in Northeast Ohio
  • Responsible for planning & implementation of musical & theatrical productions for Club members
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Major coursework in non-profit administration, public administration, education or related field preferred
  • Minimum of two-year experience working with youth ages 6-18 in youth development, education, recreation and/or social services setting preferred
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • CPR and first aid certificates required within 6 months of employment
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and the Internet
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Valid driver license
