Black Feminist Future (BFF) is a dynamic movement incubator and political hub with a powerful vision: to amplify the voices and leadership of ALL Black women and girls, including trans, cis, gender non-conforming, non-binary, LGBTQIA, and other gender-marginalized individuals. About the Role
As the Senior Director of Operations, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of BFF. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will oversee internal operations and lead long-term planning to ensure growth and financial sustainability. You will develop efficient, people-centered systems and manage the Atlanta headquarters, cultivating a welcoming and inclusive environment. This is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to lead in a transformative organization dedicated to strengthening Black feminist leadership, supporting aligned movements, and challenging cultural norms.
What You’ll Do
You will oversee HR & culture, finance, facilities, and overall operations management.
Key responsibilities include:
Financial Leadership (55%)
- Champion BFF’s financial strategy, providing insights for sound decision-making and ensuring best practices in fiduciary stewardship.
- Develop and implement short- and long-term financial plans to support organizational growth and mission sustainability.
- Oversee financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, grant management, and audit preparation.
Operational Excellence (45%)
- Optimize systems, processes, and internal communications to ensure the smooth daily operation of the organization.
- Manage the Atlanta office, including inventory, data security, and technology infrastructure.
- Lead initiatives to enhance operational systems, adapting them to meet current and future organizational needs.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a hands-on leader and strategic thinker with a record of guiding teams, solving complex problems, and driving impactful change.
You’ll excel in this role if you:
- Are deeply committed to Black feminist values and passionate about shifting conditions for Black women, girls, and gender-expansive people across the U.S. and the diaspora.
- Have a strong background in financial management, strategic planning, and operations, particularly within nonprofits or social justice organizations.
- Are skilled with financial software and cloud-based tools.
- Possess experience with HR and payroll software, understanding of 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) tax implications, and commitment to meticulous financial reporting.
- Enjoy challenging standard approaches with innovative ideas and new solutions.
- Excel at relationship building and thrive in leading through internal shifts and organizational growth.
Location: Atlanta, GA - Black Feminist Future operates in a hybrid environment, and this role requires an in-office presence on Tuesdays and Thursdays as the leader of the Infrastructure and Operations team.
Compensation: $115,000 - $140,000, plus a competitive benefits package including IRA contributions, medical and dental coverage, and professional development opportunities.
Travel: Up to 35% for retreats and program-related needs.
