Primary Purpose:

Responsible for managing the landscape improvement operations of current clientele. Establishes programs and daily operational systems to implement long-term goals established by the Operations Manager and/or President. Criteria for success include the completion of projects on time, as specified, and at a profit. Other skills include practical design, accurate estimating, and salesmanship. Must be able to estimate, sell, coordinate, and ensure work for a minimum of 1 crew.

Essential Functions

Supervisory/management

  • In charge of field operations and responsible for supervising the activities of the Foreman and crew.
  • Ensure materials needed for the projects have been ordered, prepared, assigned, and ready for the crews at the start of the project.
  • Communicate, orally and written, with clients, architects, general contractors, employees, and management.
  • Assist crew with Aspire, making sure clocking in and out is accurate and done in the proper tickets.
  • Responsible for inputting and tracking scheduled hours in Aspire. Work with the crew to be sure time in and out from each project is being done in Aspire.
  • Work with finance on the annual budget for the Enhancement division.
  • Create and update SOPs for the Enhancement division.
  • Lead weekly Enhancement team meetings. Give a report on the project schedule, status, job costing, and project backlog.
  • Attend Manager’s meetings and report project updates and any new work procured.
  • Plan and conduct monthly safety meetings or more frequently as required or as necessary.
  • Works well with others in a team environment and is helpful and courteous to customers.
  • Assists in recruiting, interviewing, and evaluating potential employees.
  • Conducts performance reviews with the crew members individually.
  • Train and assist in developing the skills of the field crew. Areas of emphasis include the efficiency of time, area planning and organization, horticultural practices, estimating, safety programs, inventory control, Company policy, equipment maintenance, material usage, and customer service.
  • Complies with all established company policies and procedures.

Sales/Estimating

  • Assumes sales and account management responsibilities in the promotion and solicitation of new work.
  • Sales efforts will include soliciting and responding to new and potential clients and conducting site visits.
  • Develop competitive bid proposals and estimates using company estimating guidelines and systems; analyze and perform field measurements, determine materials, labor, equipment, and sub-contractors required for projects.
  • Work with landscape architect and/or designer to create estimates and bid proposals.
  • Deliver bid proposals and estimates to prospective clients. Complete the sales process resulting in closing new projects.
  • Negotiate and renew contracts.

Project Management

  • Procuring necessary materials within cost estimates for the project, including deliveries to meet project schedule and deadlines.
  • Manage correspondence, change orders, communications, and meetings with the customers, contractors, and others involved in the project.
  • Scheduling and daily management of projects, tracking project costs including materials, labor, and supplies while ensuring the project remain within budget.
  • Liaison between UI and the customer, including general contractors, subcontractors, architects, and vendors.
  • Invoicing – ensure projects are being invoiced in a timely manner and aligned with the contract.
  • Quality Control (QC) – inspect job sites throughout the installation phase to ensure work meets company standards.
  • Ensure SOPs are implemented and followed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
