Job Requirements / Description

The Director of Sales oversees all aspects of the Sales Department for our stations, including staff management, advertising inventory throughout all channels, revenue goal setting and achievement, and budgeting.


Responsibilities:

  1. Provides leadership for the broadcast/web sales teams
  2. Makes decisions regarding hiring, evaluation, promotion and termination of employees
  3. Develops and executes sales strategies which result in exceeding revenue targets in local, national, eMedia and new product revenue
  4. Drives new business development
  5. Manages inventory and revenue forecasting
  6. Manages recruitment and development of talented sales professionals
  7. Prepares budgets and approves budget expenditures
  8. Resolves customer complaints regarding sales and service
  9. Plans and directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and service programs
  10. Determines inventory, pricing and discount rates
  11. Creates and reviews operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability
  12. Directs the Accounts Receivable efforts of the Sales Department
  13. Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

  1. Must have Local/National Broadcast Media Sales experience with a duopoly. Strong digital experience also required.
  2. Minimum ten years’ experience in media sales
  3. Experience with and strong coaching capabilities with Needs Analysis selling.
  4. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising or Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  5. Fluency in English
  6. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  7. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  8. Experience guiding, directing and motivating subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
  9. Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them
  10. Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills
  11. Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
